Hello,
I'm building a NAS and I need some help on picking a PSU. The case (NORCO RPC-3216) has a backplane for 16 hot swappable 3.5" drives. The backplane takes a total of (10) 4-pin MOLEX connectors (4 pins in a horizontal row, like you would use to power a case fan or IDE HDD). Does anyone know of a PSU (ATX form factor) that has 10 or more 4-pin MOLEX connectors? Or can I use Y-splitter cables to expand the number of MOLEX connections? Would that be too much current for the Y connector to handle?

All helpful replies are much appreciated!

Motherboard ?

# & Type of drives ? SSDs ?

What are you putting in those bays ?? MOLEX ??? Not SATA ??

Also state graphics subsystem (anticipate full graphics expansion) ...

... Needing MUCH more info about initial and expanded config.

this is a nas build that i'm doing. as such, there will be no graphics system. The system will take 16 3.5" SATA drives which connect to SATA backplanes. The backplanes are powered by 2 4-pin MOLEX each (total of 10 4-pin MOLEX connectors just for backplanes). That's why I need a PSU that has at least 12 4-pin MOLEX connectors (i.e. backplanes+fans). any thoughts?
