The rana 435 will perform better then both of those selected CPU's. However the callisto 3.2 ghz has 2 cores that are able to be unlocked which could be a benefit.

The motherboard you selected is fine, however I would look into getting the same model with Sata 6GB's too. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

yeah ... at this price point, you can be "penny wise and pound foolish" ...

... Don't cut your leg off, just to save a buck !

... 15% more $$ can get you 30%+ more performance and features.

Ok I might just order this tomorrow. Please let me know if there will be any compatability issues or last minute recommendations.

Ram - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... ok?

Mobo - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168... yeah?

CPU - I really like the phenom 2 L3 (and slight chance of unlocking 1 or 2 more cores) http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

but I know you guys suggest http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

What are the pro's and cons of the 2 CPU's vs. each other?

Only advantage of the Callisto over the Rana is that it MIGHT be able to be unlocked.

The advantage of the rana over the Callisto is that it will perform better out of the box.

I bought a Phenom II 545 and I successfully unlocked both 3rd and 4th core, however my temp sky rocketed and I was forced to 1. Disable cores or 2. Buy the hyper 212 (Which I did) and now I'm a happy camper =)

Going to go with the Rana and place order tomorrow. Waited through the weekend to see if any other idea's or sales came up. Anything I get will be quite an upgrade from my old P4 2gb ddr1.
Thanks again for all your help gang.
