i recently had to reformat my reconditioned dell desktop after a virus. i was given a copy of a microsoft reinstall disc from the store where i bought the computer, after i ran the reformat, the computer worked great, except that there was no audio. i tried to download driver updates from the dell site, still no audio.the computer does not recognize any audio devices since i reformatted it. any advice? i tried a bunch of options. is there a separate audio disc i can get to reinstall the connection?

Chances are you are using the wrong drivers, or just did not install them properly. Did you use the service tag to find them on Dell's website? Was this a used computer? Was anything replaced on it before you bought it? If the motherboard and possibly other parts were replaced, the dell site may not help you.
