Hey guys

I have a problem while raiding 25man content in which my FPS just plummets down to like 10-15 FPS with the uberlowest graphic settings and the resolution at HD-Ready and below on my 24inch screen :(. Ofcourse i've turned off all unneeded addons/programs in the background aswell.

My System:
Q6600 2.4Ghz
ATI RADEON 4870 with 512MB
4GB DDR2 800MHZ RAM

What i want is to always play the game with 1920x1200 resolution with mid range settings (no shadows and turn off all not needed settings)

I'm planning on upgrading my CPU but I'm not quite sure if it could also be the graphiccard which lets my FPS plummet.
What I already found out is that you should minimum have a 2.8ghz dual core processor and a decent graphiccard.
Since WOW only runs on 2 threads it seems that my cpu just doesnt cut it.

I've also done all the settings to optimize wow for 4cores.

Hope to get some advice soon :)

THanks! //fame

cant be my internetconnection since i raid with 20-25ms all the time.
what i just noticed is that my processor is at 58°C idle. i'm just watching some videos on my pc right now. and that will rise probably when playing wow. i got a 5000/500kbit connection.

I would agree that it is the clock speeds of your CPU limiting you. I ran WoW on my AMD PhIIx3 (stock 2.6, but OC'd to 3.4ghz daily) with a 4870 512mb for a long time, and even on 25man raids I could keep a steady 25fps+, and most of the time I was over 60fps, with medium-high settings 1920x1080 resolution (shadows low). The game got choppy very very rarely for me. I just learned to drop my resolution to 1440x900 for raids, and I never really saw it drop below 30fps.

I have the exact same setup (except the monitor - but same resolution) and I too experience FPS drops, but I have my details to the HIGHEST and also 20+ addons running at the same time. So it might be more than your CPU speed.
