Ram memory

I have i5 661 processor with 2 ddr1600, however my core temp is 87c.
I checked intels list for i5 661 and it says up to ddr1333, could this be why my core temp is high? all setting on the mother or at default..
Thanks, Gene

  1. Your RAM would not be a major factor on your CPU temps. It sounds like you have a heat sink | thermal compound application issue.

I would remove your HSF, clean off the thermal compound from both the CPU & cooler. Reapply thermal using an appropriate amount ( refer to this site... http://benchmarkreviews.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=150&Itemid=62&limit=1&limitstart=5 ). Reapply the cooler and make sure it is fully secured to the motherboard.
