Triple Channel Question

I currently have 3 sticks running triple channel on my system. I would like to add 3 additional ones but am having trouble finding the same sticks I currently have or even ones with the same timings. If I run 3 identical sticks in slots 0, 2, 4 and 3 identical sticks in slots 1, 3, 5 but are different from the first 3 will I run into any issues?

  1. Welcome to Tom's Forums! :)

Issues - maybe; keep in mind if the disparity is too much the BIOS will disable RAM; also you 'get' the worst of each {Speed and CAS Timings}. They should have the SAME: Speed, CAS Timings, Voltage, and Type {incl chips/side, often capacity, etc}. To avoid issues 'find' the same RAM.

Q - What EXACT set do you have now? post a link to the current RAM.
  2. lol, I suppose I could have googled the ram myself. Still costs the same as when I got it way back when :/

    Thanks for the speedy responses.
  3. What, you wanted was someone to give you permission to mix-match your RAM. On the bright-side your rig will run fine verses hoping it will.

I see the after the fact problems ALL DAY... Better & Smarter to post now verses posting a 'help me' post later. ;)
