I have searched everywhere for ATI 4870 GPU
Overclockers UK/Ebuyer/Amazon UK/Novatech/Play.com

I can't find a single ATI 4870 1gb in the price range of £100-£120
Are they still in production, no where seems to stock it?!?!

Its puzzling me. They are probably the most wanted gfx card ati sell, and they seem to no longer
be in production?

Feel free to share your thoughts please :)

i dont think that the 4870 is still on production because 5770 is the same on performance and this videocard has a plus:less Consumption

But the 5770 isn't as powerful, performance wise, so why would they stop production for a weaker model?

idk the prices but i know 5770 is the new version of 4870 and the competition of nvidia 260 GTX

5770 is NOT as powerful as 4870. That is a fact. To OP, you can just get 5770 at that price, a plus when there is DirectX11.

Well i think at this point, the 4870 is end of production, either they have completely stopped making chips or are only making a very small amount, and soon about to completely halt production. At this point finding at 4870 would be a matter of luck. i did see one on newegg that would be about 120 euros but i believe they only deliver to the US

Yeh, the 5770 is a tad faster than the 4870 1gb.

But the thing is, ATI ihas stopped making the 4870 1gb now buecuase they want people to buy the 5770. The 5770 used to be slower and more expensive than the 4870, So nobody sane bought the 5770. So ATI fixed that by making the 5770 20$ cheaper and the 4870 30$ more to make the 5770 the logical choice at the moment. The only people who buy the 4870 now are people who want a card for Xfire, and want it before it drops of the face of the earth.

The 5770 is like a 5%-2% slower 5770 with DX 11 and slightly less heat and power use. They worth about the same, Which is why the 4870 was the better card a few months ago. But now the 5770 is cheaper, It's the better choice.

There are 9 different models of 4850's available at newegg today.

As of December, ATI shipped as many 55nm chips as 40nm chips, lost link. So those parts all became one of the 4 series. Bestbuy has put the ATI 4 series cards on clearance as of last week. Some BB had the 4890 for 130.00, mine didn't all sold out. They had the 4850's marked clearance.

What does the 4850 have to do with anything?
