Im just starting to get into PC gaming and want to play new games coming out such as Napoleon Total War. My current computer can not take the load so i'm looking into upgrading it but im not sure if it is worth it. It is maybe 5 years old. intel pentium single core no graphics card and one gig ram I'm new to this so I figured I would as the experts what would you recommend for a half decent gaming setup that wont break the bank and still can do some graphic damage playing games.
Thanks for all the help.

More about : upgrading

You definitely need a new build. 5 year old Pcs usually cannot be upgraded. Write your specs, so that we can tell if you can still use some of your parts.

Just found that you need an OS...

OS: $99
Windows 7 OEM 64-Bit
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

So this comes to $577, I'm guessing this doesn't fit your budget? To make it fit a fair few changes would need to be made as a less expensive graphics card just won't do.

Is this price acceptable or is it too high?

Ok sorry for the very late reply.

Here is a start:

CPU: $53
AMD Athlon II X2 240
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
*Loss in performance

MOBO: $48
ASUS M4N68T-M
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
*Lose ability to Crossfire

RAM: $55
A-DATA Gaming Series 2GB 1600MHz
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...
*Lose a fair bit of performance

Total: $509

This system leaves you with still a pretty good gaming system however the 2GB of memory will cause some troubles. Although in a little while you could always upgrade by just buying another stick.

To cut prices more:

Graphics: $65
Asus HD4670 1GB
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

Total: $476

This will cripple your gaming performance.

Have a look at these different options and see if you are able to stretch to the first downgrade, although if you arn't then go for the second.

Hope I am helping.
