How can I test my acer one aspire netbook battery?

I have an ACER one Aspire...the first battery issue was early last fall & was corrected via the Bios directions from the Acer site. New problem suddenly appeared: My battery actually charges (or appears to be charging) & shows a 78% charge but the netbook will not start up by battery alone (or will just die if I remove the AC power)? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Really, I don't want to spend a hundred bucks for a battery if the laptop is the problem. Thanks

have friends with the same model laptop/same battery?
You could borrow it and try in your laptop first to make sure whether the battery is broken or not....
