Netopia Dsl compatible with netgear router

I have installed the netgear router to my lap top and it is sayin no available wireless noted,when i checked the connections that were available it has the wireless network that i use but says its not secure. What am i doing wrong? HELP

Sounds like you haven't set up the router fully. Actually you don't want it secured while setting it up.

If possible, just connect to the unsecured connection and see if you can get on the internet -- unless you have also failed to set up the WAN (link to internet provider part) properly as well.
