I have an old Samsung SyncMaster 17", which I think with my actual rig (see below), deserves an upgrade. Yesterday I saw this Samsung P2250 monitor. I won´t talk about prices, because I live in Brazil, so it would be meanless...
My question here is if I would be able to play BFBC 2 with decent FPS!? I find no problems in my 17" with Maximum settings 1280x960 with my pc spefications (of course)
The P2250 supports 1920x1080 full hd, but as I could see at this site I would have some 'laggy at sometimes' gameplay (I need it for multiplayer, so good fps are wellcome). I´m wondering if I could use a lower resolution to get more fps with max graphics, without having some image stretch problems, or at least a torable stretch (i´m not very demanding with these aspects)
Thanks in advance for your answers!
3gb ddr3 corsair CL9 tripple channel (yeah, I´ll be upgrading to 6gb soon)
xfx hd 4870 1gb stock clocks
500gb sata II
corsair TX650 650W
My suggestion would be to get that monitor and to just drop the detail settings a little. the 4870 is a good card and will play 1920x1080 pretty well for most things, but you might need to lower a few settings. You could drop to 1650x1050 and it would be fine, or you could stay at 1920x1080 with slightly lowered details and be all set. Either way would be fine and I imagine you'll be happy with either. (I was running 1920x1080 fine with a 4870 until I got my 5750s Xfire)
I´ve been searching about some LCD monitors, and I found a lot of "things to consider", and one of them was about the TN FILM screen, which the P2250 has. They say this type of monitors haven´t good color reproduction and poor black levels, tough good response time and brightness. (my font was the TFT Central site).
Do you guys recommend me other monitor? I saw this "new" 2233RZ which got 120Hz refresh rate, and at TFT Central got a nice review saying that it´s good for gamers. Yes I like playing games, but also I love watching movies and sometimes play with Photoshop, hehehe.
There´s a top monitors list at that same site above, but I could find none of them here in Brazil (at least not in the quick search i made).
I don't know that much about monitors, but the 120Hz refresh will be very nice for watching movies and for quick response times when gaming. I don't really care as much about poor black levels and things like that- all the monitors I've had have been good enough for me in that respect. I guess its sorta what is important to you, and how much it costs and if those extras are worth the $$ to you.
