- I don't think that there is a CPU called X6900, I remember that it should have been a speed bump to the X6800 but it wasn't released.

- For the X6800 it is a little faster than the E7400 (no big difference at all), the X6800 is almost 4 years old and even the E7400 is more than 1.5 years old.

If you are getting a new system then don't look at any those 2 CPUs, the Core i3 outperforms them both and may be a good choice for you (depending on your needs which I don't know).

If you want to keep your motherboard and upgrade your CPU then state your motherboard and current CPU and the usage of your computer so others can help you.

Good luck.

i was thinking the same way, but theres a few sites where is mentioned like this post:
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/204361-28-intel-core-x6900-availability but it's not too clear if it is real or an overclocked x6800, and there:
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/192366-28-x6900-conroe-reviewed
they have a comparison

therefore i don't have enough money to update the whole PC through that's my goal, but for now, only the CPU

about my PC, is OEM
HP Pavilion m7730la
CPU: Pentium D 820 @ 2.8 Ghz
RAM: 2 GB DDR2-667 kingstone
GPU: nVidia 8500 GT 256 MB (w/TurboCache 512 MB)
DD: 500 GB SATA-II
MOBO: Asus P5LP-LE (Leonite) Socket LGA775 << EOM so, no overclocking allow T_T

the max FSB from my mobo is 1066 Mhz, so my max for now it about the core 2 duo E7500 (still, i don't have enough money to buy it)

well, thanks for reply xD i'm going for the X6900 (or X6800) "a little faster" is enough for me

by the way the x6900 and E7400 i'm looking for, they about $100...em...like 1,200 MXN (Pesos Mexicanos) both of them that's why i choce them

again, thanks for reply
