Hello,
I'm looking for better performance out of my system but i really wanted to know what the necessities are in order to overclock.

Here is my specs:

AMD Phenom II x4 965 Black Edition CPU
ASUS M5A97 AM3+ ATX Mobo
Corsair Vengeance 2 x 4gb Memory

I'm also looking to buy a psu because the one I have now has very low wattage. If you have any reccomendations there that would be great too.

More about : overclocking system

What graphics card do you have in there? That will influence PSU decision.
You're going to want to get an aftermarket cooler. I think a CoolerMaster Hyper 212 EVO should work.

What's your budget for the PSU, you'll want at least 500W. A power supply by Antec, SeaSonic, Corsair or XFX should work fine in there
