Is there a way to cure a system32 error without the cd

I have a system32 error message which is saying corrupt or missing my problem is I have no cd to to reboot it is there another way to do it

if the message appear at system boot
then there is no way to solve the problem except cd

Possibly a windows system restore, if it is a registry problem, but not if the module on the HDD is really corrupt. - Get a XP cd from a friend ? ?
