Hi guys abit stuck
Ive got myself a toshiba L300-1G4 on the cheap, done the usual upgrades ram and hard disk but was wondering about the CPU
Currently has a intel T1600
was thinking about the T5800

Is this possible?

Yeah I guess, its just I've been doing some research recently and its more common then i thought? the main thing being the fact you have to take apart the whole laptop to get at anything.
My main concern about the swap is the FSB going from 667 to 800?
the chipset is the intel GL40 which I googled and it seems to be a try and find out sort of thing.
Any ideas?

Splendid
normally a laptop is designed to shift a set ammount of heat on a model-by-model basis. putting in a faster CPU could mean the heat can't be dissipated causing stability issues.

I was wondering about the heat issue, i research all the models in the range.
which all have the same fan and heatsync and same plastics so im guessing that heat is dissipated the same way throughout the range.
T5800 is included in the range (Satellite L300-1AS). only difference is it runs a GM45 chipset.
so unless its a case of speed of fan, voltage etc.. I cant see much difference.
and those board specs are impossible to find, well for me anyway :S

Ok so for anyone that may be interested.
I just did the Cpu swap a dual core T1600 1.6 667 to core 2 duo T5800 2.0 800

Really was quite easy and works a treat, temp has gone up a fraction but noting to worry about

all in all well worth it, quite a bit faster as well :D
