Well i was going to be purchasing a 500$ pc which is already on a budget ,but aparently the gods(parents) cut it down to 250$ upgrade budget because my old pc`s motherboardjust died so im looking to replace everything except the hard drive cd drive and graphics card.

Before / After Rebates: it would be better for it to be 200-250ish$ before rebates

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: gaming, video editing, internet surfing and homework

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: mouse, keyboard, headset, mousepad, and possibly graphics card i currently have a 9500gt but if you can fit a better card in the budget that would be good

PARTS PREFERENCES: has to be from reptuable companies and im open for intel or nividia or ati and amd suggestions or mixed

OVERCLOCKING: Yes in the feature Maybe SLI OR CROSSFIRE: no

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1440 by 900 maximum resolution on my 19inch moniter

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: none really if its quiet that would be good ,and have good airflow in the case

Why do you need a new case and PSU? What are your current system components? $200 will not get you much performance if you also need a new case and PSU.

hmm i dont need a new psu i can trade my old cpu for a 300wat antec which would be good enough for my system since its nothing amazing ,and also my case is from a gateway pc so it has terrid airflow but give me a build with and without a case and ill decide

Is your Gateway case ATX, mATX or BTX?

The case is not mATX or ATX and it can't be reused. You need a case, motherboard, CPU and memory. Would you consider buying used components? If you also need a Windows OS, then you just can't upgrade for $250 or less.

An upgrade like this will cost over $250:

Asus M2N68-AM SE2 MicroATX Motherboard & AMD Athlon II X2 245 Dual Core - $165

2 x Crucial 1024MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz Memory - $78

Power Up Black ATX Mid-Tower Case with 450-Watt Power Supply - $45

You can sell your old CPU or the new PSU, but you might still be over $250 when adding taxes and delivery. You could also install only 1GB of memory to bring the cost down.

I only provided sample prices for a low-end system. The first combo is better than the second one, but you need to buy a CPU HSF as it isn't included.
