Would I need a sound card to add a subwoofer?
Jun 15, 2010, 12:26 AM
Here's my problem, my cousin plans to look for a 2.1 sound system during Black Friday, but his mobo only has line in, stereo, and a headphone jack and I'm wondering is there any way to add a woofer to that system as is. Here's his system, if I need a soundcard I'd like a PCI-E x1 model.

you don't need a sound card, unless you want one
you simply run an audio line out (the green port) to the sub. the sub then runs a line to each speaker. All the wires will come with a new 2.1 system.
