Strange colour blending

hey guys, i was wondering if anyone knew the cause and or a solution to a problem i have, i dont know how long this has gone on, but i only noticed it the other day when playing LOTRO.

The colours in darker areas of the screen in particular dont seem to blend together, they seem to just be blobs of colour next to each other, its hard to describe and i tried google and looking around forums but not entirely sure what to call it or search for, most of my searches just came back with effects in photoshop :p

here is a couple examples of the problem i am having...

In the first image you can see bottom left where it is meant to fade blues and blacks that its a bit less than smooth...

and in this image you can see around the floor that the colours are very blobby...

im running latest drivers with my 5750, which is overclocked

i have a LG flatron w2254tq 22" monitor running at 60hz in 1680*1050

if any1 knows whats causing this let me know ;) it might just eb the way things have to be, but at first i thought it was just my game but started spotting it elsewhere, its probably been there for ages but now ive spotted it once i see it everywhere haha :D

thanks in advance guys ;)

I can't really see something wrong, but i believe you are talking about "gradients".

Look here: http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/gradient.php and http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/

If you find that is the case, there is not much you can do about it. It is your monitor and by doing a color calibration you can improve it, but probably not eliminate it. Do not worry though, it is quite common and is not a real problem unless you are a graphic designer or someone that needs accurate colors, in which case you will need to invest in an IPS monitor (expensive and not really for FPS gaming).

Those look like shots captured from within Windows; like using the "Print Scrn" key. You need to use a camera to take a picture of the monitor screen so others can see what is actually displayed on your monitor. The "Print Scrn" key provides you with what the video card is rendering rather than what you will see on your monitor. Therefore, any issues that you may or may not see is actually due to the source material in this case.

You see gradients on the desktop wallpaper because the wallpaper itself has gradients in it. Tweaking your monitor by using a site like http://www.lagom.nl or hardware colorimeter can help limit the effect, but since it exists in the orginal material you will likely see some of it even after proper tweaking.

As for the game screenshot, that's probably how they want it to look....
