New to OCing, how do I set my ram to 1866mhz w/o crashes and hangups?

I have the timing on my ASROCK 970 extreme 3 on auto voltage and the XMP profile on auto, but when I set the frequency to 1866mhz it crashes, is there some special voltage i have to set to get it to work? or change time on the ram?
I am running an FX 8350 btw

and using RipJAWS X series

Overclocking memory? Don't bother. You will gain little or no performance and it is not worth the increase in system stability.

And you should not run DDR3 RAM over 1.65 volts. You run the risk of frying the integrated memory controller on the CPU.
