Hello,
does anyone have an opinion on, if they had the choice, would you rather choose a 32bit, dual core quad Q9650 vs. a I7 870 at 64 bit? I need to make a choice soon and not sure which way to go

No reason to go with the old Socket 775 CPU's. For gaming an i5-750 1156 is as high as you'll really need. For professional graphics/video an i7-930 is about all you need.
