I would really appreciate some help. I was going to do a major upgrade and basically replace everything in my computer. I was going to get the Gigabyte GA-X58A-UDR3 motherboard with an Intel i7-950 CPU. I have a question about memory.
I was thinking about using Corsair Dominator 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Triple Channel Kit Desktop Memory model TR3X6G1600CD8. This would run me $150.00

Then I saw where I could get 8GB of memory but it doesn't appear that this is an option according to Corsair for the Gigabyte motherboard.
I was going to get Corsair XNS3 8GB (4 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model CMX8GX3M4A1600C9 but it would only run me $114.00

Is this correct that I can't use the 8GB memory and would have to go in groups of (3) so that I would have to get like either 6GB or 12GB?

I was also thinking about using the ASUS ENGTX460 DirectCU TOP/2DI/768MDS GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) 768MB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x 16 HDCP Ready SLI Support. Does this seem like a good bang for the buck. I can get it for 170.00

X58 chipset supports triple channel memory. You can use dual channel too but its recommended to use triple channel.
6GB is more than enough for today's games and apps,so don't bother with anything higher unless you have lots of heavy image/video editing projects opened at the same time.
As for VGA,yes its a great choice but if you play at resolutions like 1080p or higher, get the 1GB version. It's worth the extra cash.
