$1300 Gaming Rig, new plan, Critique my part selection

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: 1-2 weeks

BUDGET RANGE: $1300 After Rebates... I could stretch a bit farther if it would mean a huge performance boost, but i would really like to stick to $1300 or less

SYSTEM USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: Gaming, Photo Editing, Video Editing, 3D CAD work.

PARTS NOT REQUIRED: keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers, OS

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: newegg but will go somewhere else if they are less expensive - USA

PARTS PREFERENCES: I would prefer AMD but would use intel if the system will perform better in the price range. Mid-Tower case

OVERCLOCKING: Yes
SLI OR CROSSFIRE: Yes

MONITOR RESOLUTION: 1920x1080-probably two monitors

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Windows 7 64bit, Clean low key aesthetics, Future proof/upgradeable, Wireless connectivity, read BluRay, read and write DVD and CD. I posted a plan yesterday but today my build date was moved up and I also did some more research and changed nearly every component in my rig so I decided to just start a new thread. forgot the blu-ray add 100 bucks anyways it would be much better for your needs
  2. Thanks for the advice... I have a feeling that I am about to reveal just how little I know. Could you please Provide me with an explanation as to why that build is better? When I look at it I see a slower processor, less(though slightly better ram), and a stronger gpu(but will it really out perform two of the weaker model?) Also I would be lacking blu ray support. Again, sorry for my lack of knowledge but If you aren't to busy to help me learn... why is it better?

  3. photoshop work Rendering or cad, Core i7 would be a better way to go as that cpu had 8 threads to process data and the triple channel memory would give you the widest bandwidth to the ram for those memory intensive apps, On today's CPUs you cant go just off clock speeds.

The AMD platform uses dual channel memory so you go 4 or 8 gigs The Intel x58 mobos have tri channel so you go 6 or 12

The GPUs HD 5770s in xfire might be a tad better in so games then others, then a single HD 5850 but in a year you could add other HD 5850 and would be a lot better then the 2 HD 5770s ( so you leave this door opened for growth down the road )

In this review they use a i7 920 ( the i7 930 is faster then the i7 920, but you can see its better then the AMD 965 http://www.anandtech.com/show/2839/3

  4. Wow, your build does look much better. Better performance and way more upgraqdable. Great advice, thank you.
