Hello, which is better itel or athlon

It depends on your particular budget and mix of applications you run. Reading the "Best CPUs for the Money" monthly articles here gives a decent idea of performance.

As a general rule today, if your CPU budget is below $200, get an AMD CPU. If it's $300+, your only choice is Intel.

That's true, although Intel wins the best codename competition hands-down. They've got the Smackover (DX58SO), BadAxe (975XBX), Skulltrail (D5400XS), and V8 (uses some 5000X board). The only names AMD has that come close are Sledgehammer (Socket 940 Rev C0/CG Opterons) and Chompers (K6-II), although those names were from a long time ago. Now they're naming chips after stars, and unfortunately ones nobody outside of the astronomical community is familiar with. I'd have been naming chips "Meteor" or "Supernova" if I was them :D
