For external storage the limiting factor will be the USB3, or estata, interface. Although spec for USB3 is higher than esata, esata has a slight performance edge
Just benchmarked my 120 Gig agillity III on USB 3, Compared to connection to sata II or Sata III, way slowerrrrrr.
.. AS SSD Overall score Sata II ot III = Mid 400s, in USB3 overal score = 74
The vertex plus, is it a sata II, or sata III drive.
A link would be nice as it saves time looking them up.
Although I do use a couple of my older SSDs in a external configuration, I wonder how the longer term performance will be with out trim. And personnaly I'd be looking at RELIABILIY, not Performance any way.
