Malware disables keyboard xp

Hello,
Win XP. Its a real odd one. When I boot up, the keyboard will work ok. if I press say f8 or f10. But then it gets to the windows log in page and NOTHING happens. I cannot log in. The key board and mouse have been totally switched off. I have run the ultimate start up disc and all sorts including linux but nothing will reinstate this keyboard. As I cannot start windows I am goosed.

Have you tried booting into safe mode or does the keyboard stop responding before that point? I'm not sure how to fix the problem, but getting into safe mode may help you find the problem.

You can also try booting from a live linux cd and run a virus scan from there.
