Defective CD player

Hello:
I have a Dell Dimension E510. When I install a disk into the CD drive the green light flickers for 5 - 10 seconds and the goes off. I can hear the device starting up, but then it stops running. When I go into device manager and click on the device properties, I receive a message which states that windows successfully loaded the device driver for the hardware, but cannot find the device (Code 41). When I insert a CD, then go to MY Computer and click on the drive, it tells me that the drive is empty. Any suggestions?

Could be a failed drive. Have you tried other types of discs?
