hello..

im new in overclocking..
for my first experiences, i overclocked to 4.9ghz and it crash about 30 minute idle without stress or running apps..my cpu voltage is 1.35(default) and my temp reach to 40-48c..

now i overclocked 5.0ghz - cpu voltage 1.39 and my temp is 38-39c still good and nothing crash, additional im running photoshop, illustrator & browser..

i dont know im doing something risk or not but i need explaination in this situation..

MY SPEC:
Intel® Core™ i7-3770K 3.5Ghz - (5.0Ghz overclocked)||
Asus Maximus IV Exterme-Z ||
2x4GB Kingston HyperX 1600(temporary will upgrade soon) ||

Yeah well, you need to do stress test for recommended 30 minutes, I usually do like 5-6hours to check for highest temp, crashes etc. So if you overclock to 5ghz at 1.39v and no crashes at 40C that is pretty good actually, to high cpu voltage I might say, try decreases it a bit. Again 4.7-4.8ghz is good enough, no reason to overstress it.

When you overclock you usually need to up the voltage to compensate.
Try gradually lowering the voltage until you go as low as you can without crashes.

Stress testing with PRIME95 is a good way to check how stable your system is

Overclocking from 3.5GHz to 5.0GHz is a pretty massive boost.
I have the same CPU as you and am running at 4.2GHz. I did have it at 4.4GHz but had the occasional freeze so dropped it a bit.

thanks pete123edgar..
thanks hubbardt..

i lowering my voltage to 1.250 and im running at 4.8GHz..
also stress using Aida64 and prime95 with full load..

my temp reach 66-79 in 2 hours and no crash just a bit lag...
