Hello,
Is it possible for a video card to be incompatible with a monitor? I just had some components installed at a computer shop, brought my PC home and it boots to a black screen. Only the mouse icon shows when you move it. Note that I get video up until the point where you should be typing in your password.
I have a Sapphire HD 5770 and a Viewsonic VX922 monitor. I figure the techs must have tested the damned thing after they installed the drivers (they're closed now).
Nothing has worked properly since I got this video card. I'm betting that, like before, if I uninstall the drivers and let Windows 7 use the generic ones I'll get picture. Had this same problem before with a different motherboard and CPU. I wanted to buy a newer motherboard that is PCI-E 2.0, but I don't think the one I wound up with has that feature.
thanks
