I bought a 5870 2GB card thinking I would be able to buy 3 monitors in the near future, but that's not looking like it will be possible. Do you think I should return the card and get a 5850 and then buy a good HD monitor?

I play a lot of games...want to good results with them.

Intel Core i7-930
Cooler Master V8 CPU cooler
GIGABYTE GA-X58A-UD3R mobo
AZZA Fantom 900 case
AZZA Dynamo 850 CrossFire Ready Power Supply
Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s
SAPPHIRE 100290SR Radeon HD 5870 (Cypress XT) 2GB
G.SKILL 6GB (3 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Triple Channel

Ooh, to risk such nice parts on a fecal PSU.....

Return the crappy PSU. Get a 750W Antec Earthwatts or Truepower New, Corsair HX or TX, or Seasonic X.

If you want to max out EVERY game then stick with the 5870. I see you got the 2GB edition, nice :p

The 5850 will struggle on newer games at high res (1900x1200) the 5870 will have no problem, especially with that extra gig of ram.

What's the monitor you have now?

*EDIT* Holy crap, a $1.5k system with a $70 PSU. Owwww. May the luck be with you, jason.

i have two monitors now...both 19" OEM ones. I'm getting a HD one within two months, but can't afford more than one for a while.

Is that a fickle PSU or fecal?

Fecal. As in crappy.

I would definitely stick with the 5870. No reason for a downgrade.

No Jason, jtt238 did not misspeak (or mistype as the case may be). Anyway, keep the 5870. If you're going to buy one monitor, you may just want to keep the other two and hook up all three. Now you don't have to game with all 3, you can just keep them in separate display groups, but I'm sure you'll appreciate the screen real estate doing work and what not.

I'll upgrade the PSU when I get more funds too...someone else mentioned it was below 80...God I'm nervous about putting this beast together tonight. Excited though. Thanks for the advice everyone!

I ended up buying an Antec PSU tonight and will send back the other. You all scared the fecal PSU out of me.
