Hard disk

My hard disk drive it is not detected
when power went off i suddenly shut down the cpu. and after power came back i switched on the pc.i just got this message:
"for Realtek RTL8111B/8111C Gigabit Ethernet controller v2.13 (071227)
PXE-E61: media test failure, check cable
PXE-M0F: exiting PXE ROM
Boot failure
press any key to continue_
and i'm having more than 300gb of data's on it.
is it possible to recover the data's and if any body could help me with this .i'll be grateful. Thank U

  1. no the bootmanager could simply be corrupt, put your windows install disc in a repair windows, that should fix it
  2. Maybe I missed something, it sounds like the bios reset itself and activated (boot from ethernet). Did you go into bios and make sure boot from ethernet is disabled, make sure boot from hard drive is selected, select drive for boot, last if sata are you using sata controller in IDE mode which is the standard.
    If this was the issue the worst you might see in NTLDR missing which is typical of boot data error.
