overclocking as long as you have good cooling why not?

Thanks, but can I also unlock hidden cores?

No, the athlon x2s are not die harvested like the phenom x2s and therefore don't have any cores to unlock.

Are you talking about the original and not the II model? So, this list is a lie? See the Athlon II x2 215; http://www.overclock.net/t/1005739/what-unlocks-the-unl...

Anandtech says it is a "monolithic dual core" and the die only has two core on it.
If you want to be completely sure, go into cpuz and check the per core L2 cache size. If its 1 MB its a dual core die, if 512 KB it is the quad core die.

I trust anandtech better than overclock.net.

Is it 512 KB on each core? It has 512 KB on each core. Does that mean it can unlock? Here is CPU World's information sheet about the processor I bought; http://www.cpu-world.com/CPUs/K10/AMD-Athlon%20II%20X2%...

My statement about the cache sizes is incorrect. Your athlon is a gimped version of the normal X2 with only half the cache. It cannot be unlocked. (the transistor counts on the anandtech and cpu world are the same, which confirms this)

Ugh, thanks. I thought it would work. Oh well, that's 30 dollars down the drain..... BUT WAIT...... My L1 has 64 KB per core.... The one you said has 128 kb per core..... Wow, i'm confused.
