AMD cpu for photoshop cs5

Hi,
I'm looking to build a computer with an AMD cpu to run photoshop CS5 and would like to know if the following cpu is enough.

Yes, the CPU is fine for most CS5 stuff. What GPU (video card) are you planning to use? While I am an ATI/AMD fanboy, CS5 is better supported by Nvidia GPUs as CS5 can offload some processing/rendering to supported CUDA capable GPUs. ATI/AMD Stream support is in the works, but not available yet.

Here is a link (Adobe) that lists supported GPUs. None of them are inexpensive. How much is your potential budget? Regardless, you don't actually need one of these to perform well. You can certainly get by with much less GPU (including using the integrated video found on many motherboards).

Unless you are 100% certain that your workflow demands a quad, a fast dual core like the AMD Phenom II X2 545 Callisto should work nicely (as should the Radeon HD 5670 video card in that combo).

nVidia GPU processing in CS5 is generally associated with the acceleration of specific color correction features so, once again, do your homework.

Lightroom can use a quad to full benefit if you import/export bunches of images. There are also plug-ins that will put 4 cores to good work. Otherwise, a couple fast cores will keep PS smokin'

Here is an Asus M4A79XTD EVO 790X for $74 after rebate -- great motherboard for a great price.

Snag a 8GB (2 x 4GB) kit of DDR3 1333 for $80-$90 and a Spinpoint F3 HDD. Using that Spinpoint F3 as a scratch drive with an SSD for your OS/Apps will 'pop' if it works in your budget.

With a $35 after-market HSF you should be cruising along at 15x250MHz with the IMC/NB at 2500MHz. Should be nice and snappy

So, you already have Photoshop and Windows, etc. For $500 you can get a lot of computer.

Do you already have a case, power supply, HDDs, optical drive, keyboard, mouse, etc?

Also, do you intend to game or do any other specific things with this system?

Just get a least 8GB of RAM and it will be very fast. And considering how much how cheap RAM can get nowadays, it can be the most bang for bucks upgrade that you can get for working with Photoshop
