Keyboard not responding

Hello,
I am trying to install a fresh copy of windows XP 2010. However, it seems that my keyboard cannot work when it comes to the point where i need to partition, and instruct the setup where to install the files. I have tried both the PS2 and USB options but still doesn't work. I have also altered USB legacy support to enable USB controllers but to no avail. Anyone know the problem? I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

Did you reboot after plugging in the PS/2 keyboard? The connection is not hot swappable so it would not be active until after a reboot.

Is there a known good keyboard that can be tried?

Is the keyboard in question wireless/wired?
