Windows xp will not connect to disk player

on my desk top computer, with windows xp, disk player seems to get no power

make sure the power connector to the back of the C drive is firmly pushed home and that none of the wires have become detached from the molex connector.
If those two things are in order, the drive may have failed and needs replacing.
