my hard drive fell and hit my monitor nothing severe but now it doesn't read or none the less start up so even though my drive may be ruin can i retreive my files?

Depending on the amount of physical damage, you may be hosed. By the way, your title got truncated; what does the drive make?

Can the drive be detected in BIOS (if you are familiar with that?) In the Device Manager? In the Disk Manager? If you apply power, can you hear the drive spinning? Let's narrow down the choices a little.
