5770 vs 5750 vs GTS 250 Vs 4850

hey guys i'm looking to buy a new video card for my new budget gaming rig and i just cannot decide what would be the best graphics card for me(I'm a casual gamer, but i like to crank up the eye candy)
i'm fairly knowledgeable about computers (i've built 3)
so i know how to OC and modify fan speeds

here is my system:

CPU = Phenom II X4 @ 3.4 Ghz
PSU = Coolermaster 650 watt
MB = Gigabyte MA790GX-Ud3H
RAM = Gskill DDR3 1333
Case = Zhalman full tower( its old so i don't know exactly what model it is)
and i'm running XP Home

So I'm Just Looking for opinions from Pro's ;)

More about 5770 5750 4850
  1. Out of those HD5770 is the best the other three trade blows but are all good cards for a casual gamer. Since you are still running XP you can not take advantage of the DX11 support of the HD5xxx series I would recommend getting the card you get for the best price.
  2. well i'm probably going to upgrade to Vista Or Windows 7 soon. but i am looking for a card that will perform good for at least a year. And i would be willing to crossfire any of the amd ones once i have the money this summer. Thanks for the suggestion though:)
  3. do you know which of those cards would OC the best?
  4. The 5770 is the 'best' card mentioned , its 160 dollars.
    The GTS 250 can be found for the best price. As mentioned , your using a dx9 o/s.
    110.00 dollars for this GTS 250 is the best deal.

  5. what about the HD 4850? i found a saphire one on newegg for $95 US will it beat or tie the gts 250?
  6. 4850 ties the 250 1gb same way as the 4870 ties the 260 so yeah cheapest is best with those.

    $10 off w/ promo code VGA3171, ends 3/24
  8. :o Awesome i'll go with the Sapphire 4850. Thanks notty22!

    Oh.. BTW i'm have a dell ultrasharp 22" monitor that runs at 1920 by 1080 resolution, are you sure that the 4850 512mb can handle games good at that resolution?

    I play mostly SupCom1 &2, SOASE, and Command&Conquer 3

    Thanks again for the quick replys guys!

    For that resolution I would look for a good deal on HD5770!
  10. Yeah, that HD4850 is a fantastic deal but the card will be weak for 1920x1080. You are better off spending more for an HD5770.
  11. yeah i was going to get the HD5770, but i had to get a new card soon cause my old one was crapping out on me(freezing, crashing, monitor juts going black at times) but i think i will try to save up and replace the 4850 with an 5770 this summer.
    it's just that i needed a fairly powerful card for really cheap. and i couldn't wait to save up for a 5770:(
    but i got the 4850 off newegg for $85 free shipping!!

    but okay so i will look for a good sale on a 5770 this summer then. Thanks
