775 heatsink on i5 3570k

Hi,

Am ok with installing a freezer pro 7 with an LGA775 mounting bracket to my i5 3570k ? My motherboard (ASRock Extreme Pro 3) has 775 and 1155 mounting holes so does that mean I'm good to go?

Just trying to see if I can re use my cooler instead of going to buy another one.

No , you need to use an 1155 cooler.

Out of curiosity why would ASRock supply 775 mounting holes ? On the box it says that it only supports 1155 chips so what gives?

I've had prime95 running for over an hour and my temps have no exceeded 50. From what I remember i think when I was running stock cooler my cpu would hit ~60, so looks like things are working out ok. I will attempt to do a mild OC and see what happens.
