This is my First build. all I really play is World of Warcraft. I Don't want any more Lag or the 1-2 FPS when raiding!
I know i need a good GPU! and this is what i have found so far i would be willing to spend a little more on Gpu if you were to find some where i could save a little.

as is my budget is about $200. Right now i am looking at XFX HD-489X-ZSFC Radeon HD 4890 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 for $210

is this the best bang for my buck?

the rest of my build:

Case : CM HAF 922 (89.98 After Rebate)

CPU: i7 920 ( on sale 199.99)

RAM: OCZ6GB Trip. channel (132.99 After Rebate)

PSU: OCZ 700 WATT (59.99 After Rebate)

GPU: XFX radeon 4890 (209.99)

MOB: XFX Lga 1136 (149.99 After rebate)

HD:Western Digital WD7500AADS Caviar Green Hard Drive (69.99)

one other question some of u may know as far as a OS goes should i get a Reg OEM windows 7 64 bit or should i save my self 35 bucks and get a Dell stamped OEM?

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit (Dell Stamped) for any brand computer (72.00)

Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit DSP OEM (109.00)

one other thing i have never Over Clocked before so im not real worried about that.

Thank you for any and all help and tips

i would move this post over to home build systems / new builds

because in several minutes you will have the entire system ripped apart for failing to have the exact same parts in other poster's PC

Looks fairly well thought out to me. Although I would avoid a Caviar green as the main drive.

For 1440x900 the HD4890 is unnecessary. The HD5770 is a much better value at $150-160 and even that card is already a large amount of overkill for your resolution. It is also DX11 compatible and MUCH more power efficient.

do you have any suggestions?

Fairly well??? For 1440 x 900, and for Wow, thats massive overkill.

I said the system was fairly well thought out in general and told him the card was overkill... what are you complaining about exactly?

would getting a 1280 x 1024 be that much of a upgrade? as far as GPU goes?

1280x1024 is basically the same resolution as 1440x900.
1280 x 1024 = 1.31 million pixels
1440 x 900 = 1.29 million pixels
The screen is just a different shape.

i also found a 1680 x 1050 i might be able to make fit in my budget.

to be honest i don't need it to look ZOMFG or anything i care about FAST i want a lot of FPS and low latency!

and from what i understand a good GPU and RAM is what is needed for this in WOW.
the other stuff can help but thats where the big difference is.

not saying i cant be wrong.

and not that it matters but im not a him im a her lol

Best solution

Sorry, we don't get many women around here usually.
For 1680x1050 either will be very good. The HD4890 only really makes sense once you get up to 1920x1080. Even then it's a questionable value compared to the HD5770.
Basically the HD4890 is about 15-18% faster but it is older, hotter, much more power hungry, disproportionately more expensive and lacking in features. The HD5770 is $50 less, DX11 compatible, uses several times less power at idle and around half under load. It also supports 3 monitors like so;
if you are interested in such. Honestly I'd take the HD5770 over the HD4890 even if the price were the same, especially so when we are talking about below 1920x1080.
