Hi, i am new to this forum but not new to building pc's currently though due to eco. factors my new gaming rig needs to fallow a budget of sorts so i need suggestions on my new upgrade build, 1 thing though AMD is not an option (just a personal prefrence) and psu must be modular with blue leds (gotta a thing for blue plus all led fans and cold cathodes are blue in the case)
I will be reusing my new antec 900 hundred two case and my 5870 and hdd's. Also the mobo and cpu need to have decent oc'ing.
If anyone can help me out with maybe some better options then what i have found so far please let me know

Current Build

8GB sli edition ocz fatil1ty ram ddr2 800 at 975Mhz
Q8400 at 3.92GHz stock voltages

one more question is worth to upgrade now or wait for the i7's to drop in price?
Thanks

I like everything but the PSU ... see if OCZ has blue LED.

That cooler may overhang the RAM socket ... CoolerMaster Hyper-212 will not.

PSU: Antec TruePower 750W. Much, much higher quality. You're asking for trouble if you buy a low quality/low cost PSU.

HSF: Coolermaster Hyper 212 Plus. This is easily one of the best coolers for any CPU. It's also one of the cheapest.

RAM: You don't need 8 GB of RAM. More than 4 GB does nothing for gaming. Here's some faster sticks: G.Skill Ripjaws 2x2 GB 1600 mhz CAS Latency 7

Mobo: I highly recommend getting a USB 3/SATA III board to keep it future proof. Here's the updated version of that board: Asus P7P55D-E Pro.

Thanks for suggestions i will change the mobo and the ram and psu. I went ahead about an hour ago and bought the cpu from a local dealer here in town that was going out of bussiness and offered a good deal on it, retail in the box i got it for 150$ As for the cooler i will have to open my case and get a mesurement on the clearance as had a OCZ vendetta II that i could not use because it would not clear the window fan on the antec 900 two case. Thanks for the quick reply. :sol:

Thanks but no thanks on mounting it on the outside of the case, and it helps to keep my vga nice cool under the OC, is there something as good as the coolermaster but not quite as tall?

Just took some musurements and removing the fan will not help matters, the retainting clips for the fan cannot be removed without breaking them off and as i have not moded this case whatsoever i plan to sell it in the near future when this build is complete to move up to the antec 1200 case so i don't want to snap the clips off. Is there way to convert my zalamn CPNS8700 cooler to fit the lga1156 socket?

Are you sure the Hyper 212 won't fit in the Antec 900? Everything I've read (and now searched for) says to it will fit easily. I believe the 900 has about 8 inches of clearance, while the Hyper is only a little over 5 inches tall...

I will take the measurements again it could perhaps be the layout of my striker ectreme that is in there right now, the alignment of the cpu would not allow the ocz vendetta II to clear the plastic retaining clips (the top left clip closest to the back of the case) for the side panel fan. Or maybe i should just order it anyhow and if worse case it won't clear the clips with the new mobo i can put it away and use the stock cooler until i buy the antec1200 case. Thanks for the reply.

I took a closer look at the inside panel and the plexi is in 2 parts so i can remove the piece with the clips on it for the side fan. Thanks for the help.

Some pretty cool stuff thanks for the link, I already went ahead and ordered the hyper 212 with the rest of my parts today when i discovered that it was possible to remove the retaining clips for the side fan, but i think i might order some the mesh for the top fan on my antec 900 two as it will be the same size when i upgrade to teh antec 1200 and most deffinatly i have to replace my blue led fans with the blue coldcathode fans i found from your links. Thanks

Thanks for granting a "best answer" ... we always appreciate that. Too bad we don't have a "Funniest Answer" ... I'd be fairly wealthy.
