My current system:

CPU: Dual core AM2 M2N 5600+ 2.8ghz
RAM: 4gigs of Corsair DDR2 RAM timing 4-4-4-12 (Dual channel setup)
Motherboard: Nvidia M2N-SLI Deluxe
PSU: Antec Neo 550
GPU: Zotac 8800 OC GT
HDD: 150gb, 1000 RPM Western Digital Raptor
Operating System: Windows 7 x64

I bought BFBC2 and I'm not getting the FPS performance I desire. I had an ATI 5850 but the performance bottlenecked because of my CPU.

I'm wondering if I should stay with AM2/+ or do an AM3 build.

Option 1: Upgrade my CPU to an AMD Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition Deneb 3.0GHz and get a ATI 5770. But I speculate how much difference this will make and how long this solution will work. It would only cost me $330.00 to do this.

Option 2: Buy an AM3 mobo, 2gigs of DDR3 RAM, an AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition Deneb 3.2GHz, and ATI 5770 GPU. This option is more expensive, depending on the parts It could cost $450.00 - $550.00.

What do you think I should do? If the difference between the two is around $200.00 would it make more since to build an AM3 setup? Would there be a noticeable performance difference between the two options?

ok option 2 is better in many ways but I'll give u the 1 I like . Opinion is newer and will not be out of date any time soon. and its got better specs. meaning better perfomance. and with the new build u will be able to keep up with the newer programs.
