Hi all
I have a 2500k and a p67 - ud3r b3 and 4x4gb corsair vengeance rated at 9-9-9-24 2t 1600mhz

Problem
My cpu aint stable at stock settings under very high intel burn test

My gigabyte mobo automaticall ups the voltage as i increase the multi
I had a hyper 212+ and now i ve bought h100 temps are super low reach 80c at 1.5 v

Dont know my cpu just cant pass ibt very high

Ram xmp profile says profile vtt at 1.2 but qpi/vtt shows 1.05 at every time

I ve tried 4.8 ghz at 1.48v passes 20 runs standard but fail very high

One thing ive noticed....my cpu pass one 10runs ibt and shows the success dialog and if again i run it ....it fails...
Can somebody tell me what os happening...

Want to have my cpu at 5ghz with this cooler but not stable....anyhow

Enabled load line calibration too

Want a stable setting for mainly gaming

Is the intel burn test buggy....

First off, i5-2500k should never exceed 1.5V. Actually getting close to 1.5 is very dangerous. At most 1.4V (and that is already too high) I got mine dialed at 1.34V

If you are having issues getting to 5.0GHz then it could be your motherboard. You need at least a 8+4 power phase to reach 4.7. Getting to 5.0 requires a $$ mobo. What is your mobo?

I never used Intel burn test. I always used Prime95.

This is not true, my mobo is 4+1 (z68 pro 3) and am able to get to 4.7 with a 212+ at 1.35v. 4.4 at 1.34v is just an unlucky cpu pick. Most 2500k hit 4.5 at 1.3. The oc club at overclock.net used to have an easy to see chart with everyone's specs and speeds but you can still see what others got. I'd also like to note that cpu phases are not created equal.

Its running at rated spec at 1.5 v

How much voltage 1.6 or more

Is 10-10-10-20-1t 1867mhz better than 9-9-9-20-1t 1600mhz

Cause it can run at that too...

My ram has xmp profile but when i select that it shows profile voltage 1.5 profile vtt 1.2

Cpuz shows incorrect voltage shows qpi vtt as cpu core v .... bugs with gigabyte mobo

It always is at 1.05 wether i select xmp profile or not...

It shud increase i think....

I have a Z77 Pro3 and I can't seem to get past 4.4GHz and it is considered a good overclock and I haven't seen anyone do better with this 4+1 mobo. Maybe Z68 is different. Also, I have thought about redoing thermal paste and trying again but 4.4 is good enough. If I could reach 4.8 safely then I'd try. 4.5/4.6 is nil difference.

@k114. I'd love to see someone with my mobo reach 4.5GHz or higher, but it isn't possible while keeping under 1.4V. I'm ok with my 2500k.

Seems found the sweet spot.....

I5 2500k @ 4.8 ghz @1.43v @qpi vtt 1.20 @ram 1.6v

Passes very high 10 pasess several times....

Tried for 5ghz but heat limited on a h100 even

5ghz didnt stabilize at even 1.51v temps were 87c max and package went to 98c max..... waswilling to give more voltage but never mind can play with 1fps lower at 4.8ghz stable.

Fuckin h100 shud had bought custom water loop.

At 4.8 ghz at 1.43 max temps were 74 c package was at 83c

You know Intel Burn In Test will give you about 10-15c higher than almost any other program you run. If your temps are only 74c during IBT then you could probably overclock higher. I let my temps get up to 95c during IBT before I get worried. Because under prime95 my temps are only 75-80c. Which is safe.

I use IBT to test my highest synthetic temps and I use prime95 to test what my highest real world temps will probably be. I also use IBT to test for stability because prime95 won't cause a blue screen for me even though I'm not stable during IBT.
