Looking to build PC with Nvidia SLI on AMD Mobo?

Hello, I want to buy an AMD 6 Core CPU, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103913 on an AMD motherboard but, I want to be able to use SLI since I already have Nvidia card. The Intel 6core CPU is way overpriced and the AMD does the same thing for alot cheaper. Does anyone have any suggestions on boards I could use? I've heard about the SLI hack on AMD boards but I dont know how reliable it is.

Any feedback is welcome. I'm looking to purchase this rig sometime today so it comes in time for my son.

Thanks

  1. I don't agree Intel 6-core = AMD 6-core ; there are a few exceptions but for anything else the Intel's outperform the AMD counter-parts by a wide margin.

    AMD SLI MOBO, ASUS M4N98TD EVO {chipset NVIDIA nForce 980a SLI} http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131636

    Specs {2 x PCIe 2.0 x16 (dual @ x16)} - http://usa.asus.com/product.aspx?P_ID=1g8o5Sh3csqM5M8u&templete=2
  2. Thanks for the benchmarks. So that i7 would be the best choice for CPUs for that price range?

Any suggestions on Mobos to compliment it?

Would this be a good deal

  3. There are no motherboards that have integrated graphics for that processor. The HDMI output would be on your graphics card anyways.

Motherboards will be on the expensive side. I would recommend looking at the following:

    Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128423

    ASRock X58 Extreme
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157163

    ASUS Sabertooth
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131665
  4. alright thanks that combo deal includes the sabertooth so I will probably get that along with some DDR3 Ram.
  5. PassMark - http://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html
    i7 950 6,331
    1100T 5,738

    I don't recommend ANY of the above MOBOs especially the GA-X58A-UD3R {Google GA-X58A-UD3R +BSOD +SSD}. For the money ASUS P6X58D-E {3-WAY; 16+2 Phase} vs Sabertooth X58 {2-WAY; 8+2+2 Phase}. True gaming - look at EVGA X58 FTW3 132-GT-E768-KR .

    Good Luck!
