I'm looking to buy a new laptop, for usage from gaming to basic video encoding (family videos).
Asus proposes with the exact same specs (4Go RAM, Nvidia 355m with optimus, 500Go HDD, 14' LED) on 3 different CPUs.
1- N82JV, which has a i3-350M and costs 800€
2- N82JQ, which has a i7-720QM and costs 1100€
3- There is also the X42JV with a i5-530M but is heavier than the two others and costs 800€
My question is if it is worth paying 300€ more to switch from a i3 to an i7?
@ Zipzoomflyhigh: There are no i5 quad-cores in the laptop sector.
@ OP: I would reccomend the i5 computer, unless you really need the slight performance advantage the i7 gives. The 45nm quad-core i7 will also drain the battery much faster than the 32nm dual-core i5. Since the i5 is the same price as the i3, I would recommend the i5, unless weight is a huge issue.
