Is this TV tuner setup possible?

Well, I'm wanting to get a TV tuner for my pcie x1 slot. What I'm wanting to do is, watch something on my TV via DirectTV and record something else at the same time via a TV tuner connected to the PC. Is this possible?

Sorry if this seems like a dumb question. I'm new to the world of TV tuners.

its been a while since i had DirecTV but you would have to run two coaxial cables from the dish to the home to watch a program and record another, or at least I had to but then I switched to cable around 2006.

I assume you can run one to the TV tuner and another to the TV itself.

oh ok, I'm not too sure if I have any spaces left on my splitter outside that goes to the dish. I'll have to check. That's what I figured though, I would need to run another coaxial, argh..... Don't like crawling under the house.. :(
