Hi All, I need advice on a power supply upgrade. The rig I need to power is
E6600 2.13 Ghz processor
P5N-D motherboard
2x Evga 8800gts 320mb
4gb ddr2 800mhz RAM
HAF 922 (3 200mm Fans)
Hard Drive Cooler+fan controller
hard drive 250gb(not sure of the specs the sticker came off) :(
and whatever other miscellaneous parts I am forgetting.

I have a Thermaltake Purepower 600w
http://www.newegg.com/product/product.aspx?item=N82E16817153042

And an Ultra Xfinity 800w
http://www.cluboc.net/reviews/power/Ultra/X-Finity_800/index.htm

Neither of these PSU's have enough power to even get my rig to start (Not even with only ONE of the 8800gts hooked up)..Is there something I may be missing here? An 800w power supply should be able to handle this rig even if it is a bit old right? I'm pretty sure it is a power supply issue because my friends 850w power supply ( I think either a corsair or cooler master.. Will be able to update you guys on this later) powered it up no problems.

Anyways I'm looking for advice on what power supply I should look for in an upgrade.. Trying to spend around 100$-150$ but can go up to 200$ if I really must.. Thanks in advance.

There must be something wrong with both of those psus you are trying to use. Neither of them are that great of a psu to begin with but should power your system. There's no need in spending 200 on a psu with those specs. This will work fine:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139005&cm_re=corsair_power_supply-_-17-139-005-_-Product

or this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139006&cm_re=corsair_power_supply-_-17-139-006-_-Product

Either of those are fine, the 650 watter is more like most other 750 to 800 watt power supplies as corsair under rates their units and makes them a better value than most psus...

Even a quality 500W PSU with two 6-pin PCIe connectors can handle your system. If your computer doesn't start you should look for the answer elsewhere. Maybe you have a defective mobo.

You can also do this test to be sure your PSUs are alive: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FWXgQSokF4

The THERMALTAKE Purepower (W0121RU) 600W (by Sirtec) is an old but quality PSU which is much more than enough to power your system.

Yep, you're right, I didn't pay attention to the model number you provided ( W0121RU ).

The Model W0129RU, provided in the OP's Newegg link, is a CWT.

The mobo is brand new, just got it in the mail yesterday. It worked when my friends PSU was used to power it, could it still be defective? He has, I believe, a corsair 850w. Still haven't gotten the chance to talk to him today, but I will get back to you on that.

Any other ideas of what The problem might be? Because I agree with you that the Thermaltake Purepower 600w should be more than enough.

I would do this but the wires on my 800w PSU are all the same color. lol
I left the 600w one at my friends house because we were working on it there, he was the one who gave it to me anyways. Maybe these 2 PSUs are just too old?
