Can this board use a core i3 cpu?

Hello,
I just bought a Biostar T5 XE CFX or SLI mobo. I was told by the seller that this board requires a core i5 or i7, but the Biostar website seems to indicate that any LGA 1156 compatible cpu will work. Does anyone have real world knowledge about the core i3 and this mobo?
