They are comparable. Depending if the game favors Nvidia or ATI, they will trade punches. I would look for benchmarks of the games you play and decide from there.

"The HD 5670 does not consume power?" - Um sure it does, it just doesn't require a 6-pin like the 9600GT, however I believe they are comparable in power consumption.

Sure, it is called the HD 5570. It has lower clocks and DDR3 memory instead of DDR5. Which means you lose performance.

If you are playing at 1280x1024 you might be ok with a 5670 or 9600GT at moderate settings. I seems the 5670 outperforms the 9600gt in most cases, except Crysis. However, any higher resolution and they will REALLY start to struggle with modern games. However, for the price of a 5670, I think I would get a 4850 which tend to be around the same price and would perform much better. There are even GTS 250's for around that price or slightly more if you can find them, which would be even better.

How underclocked? Why would you even underclock that card?

To each their own really. As long as it doesn't have a cheap cooler they are pretty much all the same.

If you have lower resolution 1024x768 you can live up with 5670 its a perfect choice, dx11 supported better performance than 9600gt in new games. Have a look at this http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/radeon-hd-5670,2533...

ya bro, if u play dx11 supported games, you can maxed out the graphics as in dirt2 but it degrades performance but still 25fps are playable, but in your case this count will be around 30+fps as you will play on 1024x768 resolution

Ok, brother if you can afford it, then its good for you as you can play any game on maximum settings, but in some games like crysis and newly battlefield bad company 2 may do problems on very high graphics as your processor is 2.2ghz you can overclock it to 3ghz or more to achieve much better performace. I have HD4830 with 2gb ram and e5200 @ 4ghz so i can play any game with maximum graphics my resolution is 1440x900
