Hello,
Hello everbody,
im not sure if this is the right forum to ask the following. I started to reinstall windows xp on a medion desktop, the process stops and my pc reboot with out finishing the istallation; the massage that I get after the reboot is that there is something wrong with the cd drive. can anybody help me with this;

Hello and welcome to Tom's Hardware Forums.

At precisely what stage does that happen? There's a routine restart after the copy process has finished and the first stage of installation is complete. After that one, the system boots from the hard disk so it seems your problem is with the reading and copying from the CD after that stage. You might just need a laser lens cleaner.

Also, lightly dab a fingertip of toothpaste on to the disk and gently wipe it off with a lint free cloth and DEFINTELY NOT a wood-based paper towel from the kitchen
