Hello,
when I restarted win xp I got the message that on the hdd is too less space and that the system cant be fully restored until min 200 mb are available.

What happended next:

I was presented with the desktop you get when you newly installed windows xp, default background, icons and start menu.
Several new user profile folders were created, which looked like username.computername.000numberFrom0-4
Probably several were created because I restarted several times.
My original userprofile looks like this: username

What I have done:
I created some hdd space.
I erased or copied the other userprofile folders.

Now I got my original programs in the start menu, but the desktop and the other stuff seems to direct to an userprofile folder userprofile.computername which seems to be created everytime after I erased it.

How can I restore my system without installing xp freshly?

Might it be possible that the registry values direct to the userprofile folder named userprofile.computername and I need to change the registry values to my original userprofile folder?

Regards,
David

Done. Changed in the registry: Path to Userprofile, Homepath and UserShell Variables. Everything works and is restored. Perfect.
