Why wont some games detect my creative labs soundcard?

Dow 2 wont let me put the settings on 3D sound, is it because i dnt have all my speakers plugged in? It says not supported by hardware :\

i have a sound blaster x-fi xtreme and its uptodate

Update your Direct X
Download and install DriverSweeper
Run in safemode
Check Creative
Click Clean
Restart normal
re-install Creative drivers
Creative drivers are always troublesome if not purged before updating imo

there is also a possibility that the game doesn't use EAX but another audio process such as Directsound,Open AL etc...

If you have sound blaster X-F Xtreme Audio card it is a cheaper version with software audio acceleration and not hardware. Maybe that's why. Unfortunately most sound cards these days do not really process sound in hardware

If you have X-Fi Xtreme Gamer or Xtreme Music, which are full versions, the setting should be available. Make sure onboard sound is tunred off in bios.

Its the gamer one it was pretty good when i got it 2 years back, ill have to check in my BIOS then, its only some games that dont let me enable it btw.
